Conference

Our fourth, bi-annual Local Government Conference held September 8, 2005, was well attended by Local Government representatives from across the Province. A tour of the award winning Kamloops Centre for Water Quality was the highlight of the pre-conference reception held September 7, 2005.

Our first conference, held in 1999, was organized in response to the encouragement of a number of our local government clients who suggested we host a conference to focus in particular on legal issues facing medium and smaller sized local governments. The positive feedback we have received has encouraged us to expand what started as a conference mainly directed to Interior and Okanagan Local Governments, to a conference which is relevant and directed to medium and smaller sized local governments throughout the Province. This reflects our own local government law legal practice which is increasingly Province-wide in its scope. We remain committed, however, to a conference which reflects our practice philosophy of: Providing practical and straightforward answers to our clients' legal problems; and Giving advice and offering solutions which make the jobs of local government managers and employees easier.
