Our Firm
Established in 1885, Fulton & Company LLP is the oldest continuing law firm in British Columbia. Our firm is presently comprised of 20 lawyers, including 13 partners and seven associates. We are a growing and progressive firm and we are looking for bright, energetic and talented students to join our team.
Articling Student Program
Our students are vital to the work we do. As part of our team, students work side-by-side with partners, associates, paralegals and numerous support staff, in order to meet the goals and expectations of our clients.
We believe it is essential to the articling experience that our candidates work with a wide variety of lawyers on an equally wide variety of files. This ensures that our students receive the experience, skills, guidance and supervision necessary to be successful lawyers. Because we are a full service law firm, we are able to offer our students exposure to a broad range of practice areas, including Banking and Corporate Financing, Corporate, Commercial, Ecommerce, Entertainment and Sports, Media, Gaming, Insolvency, Intellectual Property, Technology, Privacy, Mergers and Acquisitions, Natural Resources, Real Estate, Wills and Estates, Municipal, Aboriginal, Administrative, Construction, Civil Litigation, Business Litigation, Criminal, Environmental, Family, Health, Immigration, Insurance, Labour and Employment, Landlord and Tenant, Mediation and ADR and Personal Injury.
Each student is assigned a principal. The principal is responsible for mentoring the student and guiding him or her throughout the year. The principal will answer questions, review drafts, provide advice and suggestions to make the student’s experience at Fulton & Company LLP challenging, comfortable and rewarding.
Students are also encouraged to seek guidance and assistance from the associates and partners in our various practice groups. We have an open-door policy at Fulton & Co. and all associates and partners welcome the opportunity to work with articled students.
The Recruiting Process
Fulton & Company LLP attends annual student recruitment conferences at various law schools in Canada. We focus on candidates who have a proven record of academic achievement and an extra-curricular or employment background that demonstrates creativity, drive, and passion.
If you are a second or third year student interested in articling with our firm, we encourage you to submit a resume, transcripts and cover letter, requesting an interview.
